A typical British officer's bullion epaulette of the mid Peninsula period (1808-15)

Bullion drop epaulette with embroidered cresent ends caps, plain lace strap (on canvas) and beaded edge and padded silk crescent beneath bullions.
5 1/2" long by approximately 2 1/4" wide. 2 1/2" bullions.

Napoleonic epaulettes were constructed with a lace strap and bullion drops over a finer bullion drop bottom layer.
Plain lace body on a canvas backing with beaded edge purl work. Padded crescent with spangled border.

Flexible canvas body to allow the epaulette to form the correct curved shap when worn.
Tape straps for shoulder eyelet mounting.
Padded silk crescent below bullions
Doeskin wool or silk backing.

Hand made in England with real gilt/silver lace and bullions.
