British Pack (1812-15)

Often  confused with  the so  called  Victorian 'Trotter' packs,  this  is much closer to  the older 'Envelope' packs.
It has no  wooden framing  inside.

 Made  of oil painted linen canvas with seperate pipe-clayed buff strapping. Square shaped with  side wings that fold into  the centre rather than up and down in the 'Envelope' pack.

A slightly later version  (c1814-22) show evidence  of the introduction  of leather corner reinforcements)
