1802-15 Grenadier Cap: Officers

Introduced  in 1802,  this cap  replaced the earlier 1768 pattern cap .

Made from black  goat  or bear fur  over a leather carcas. Internal silk lining.  16" high with slightly dropper rear and front peak.
Leather sweatband and silk adjuster band. 
Gold mylar worsted cords and gilt bullion fringe tassels.

The front plate  is an interim design, produced  until 1802 when it was replaced with a narrower,  higher plate.
It bears a similarity to  the 1768 pattern plate,  but has the full royal arms in the centre. Gilt or silver plated copper with laquered ground.
