The  gorget was a rank  distiction worn  to show when an officer was  on duty.
This  pattern was worn throughout the Napoleonic period  from 1796 to 1815,  until finally abolished in the late 1830's.

Made  of copper with heavy gilt  or silver plate finish.
Approx 75g in weight (3 oz) , it measures 3 1/2" by 4 1/2" tall, with a 1 1/8" doming.
Backed with  chamoise leather.

Incised details  of crowned GR with  side wreaths.

Although regulations specified gilt,  some regiments wore silver versions to match the lace.

Facing colour gorget roses available to order.
